As a mentor, will I get paid?
Our volunteer mentors are not paid. On the other hand, DUO for a JOB fully takes care of the 4-day training led by professionals that each mentor awaits at the start of their adventure with us!
No coaching experience is required.β
Initial training is organized so that you have all the tools you need to properly support young people in their job search.
In addition, numerous workshops are offered throughout your support and you will have the opportunity to participate in meetings with other mentors every two months. These intervisions allow you to exchange and share your experience and to receive advice from your peers!

Am I qualified to be a mentor?

Each mentee is different, so their needs and expectations are not always the same. In general, he does not always have the necessary tools for his job search. So he expects you to help him delineate his professional desires and to identify his skills, to Compose his CV and motivation letter or even to seek together job offers.
It is therefore teamwork where you have to listen to the other, understand their realities, build a relationship of trust, in order to move forward together in the same direction!

What does the young person expect from me?
Each mentee is different, so their needs and expectations are not always the same. In general, he does not always have the necessary tools for his job search. He therefore would like to help him define his professional desires and identify his skills, to write his resume and cover letter or to search for job offers together. β It is therefore teamwork where you have to listen to the other, understand their realities, build a relationship of trust, in order to move forward together in the same direction!
Once the 6 months have passed, we ask you to complete an evaluation in which you specify whether you want to become a mentor again for another young person.

After 6 months, can I register again for a second mentoring ?
You don't have to! But you can π Once your 6 months as a duo have passed, we ask you to fill out an evaluation where you inform us of your next availability: tomorrow, after summer, next year, everything is ok for us! Moreover, 9 out of 10 mentors repeat the experience and start a duo again after their first support.
If a conflict arises during your mentoring period or if you feel uncomfortable in your duo, do not hesitate to contact your coordinator to let him know. We will then try to find a solution so that everything goes as well as possible.

However, if you still don't get along, we will put an end to your duo and we will put you in contact with a young person whose personality will suit you better.

What if I don't get along with the young person ?
If a conflict arises during your mentoring period or if you feel uncomfortable in your duo, you can turn to your referring coordinator and share this difference with him. He/she will make every effort to find a solution so that everything goes as well as possible. However, if the situation does not improve, we will put an end to your duo and we will put you in contact with another young person based on the criteria you have given us: sector, availability, language spoken etc.
One of the requirements to become a mentor at DUO for a JOB is to be over 50 years old.
Being retired is not a criteria, as long as you have a few hours per week to devote to the support of your mentor. A lot of mentors manage their professional occupation and their role as a mentor at the same time !
