Our volunteer mentors are not paid. On the other hand, DUO for a JOB fully takes care of the 4-day training led by professionals that each mentor awaits at the start of their adventure with us!
No coaching experience is required. Initial training is organized so that you have all the tools you need to properly support young people in their job search. In addition, numerous workshops are offered throughout your support and you will have the opportunity to participate in meetings with other mentors every two months. These intervisions allow you to exchange and share your experience and to receive advice from your peers!

Each mentee is different, so their needs and expectations are not always the same. In general, he does not always have the necessary tools for his job search. He therefore would like to help him define his professional desires and identify his skills, to write his resume and cover letter or to search for job offers together. It is therefore teamwork where you have to listen to the other, understand their realities, build a relationship of trust, in order to move forward together in the same direction!
The mentor is there to help you and give you the tools you need for your job search. His role is not to find you a job. He you to give yourself the opportunity to find a job, that you agree to create this bond of trust between you which will be one of the keys to the success of your duo!
Not finding a job at the end of six months is not necessarily negative! One mentee out of three is still looking for a job at the end of the coaching, but only one out of four mentees 12 months later.
If you feel that you no longer need to be followed by your mentor after you have found a job, you can always put an end to it. However, we recommend that you continue to keep in touch in case you have questions about your new position.
Having a mentor by your side really increases your chances on the job market. 7 out of 10 young people find a job, an internship or a training course thanks to their duo!
Through its intergenerational mentoring program, DUO for a JOB wishes to contribute to ensuring that everyone has the same opportunities to access employment regardless of their origin or skin color while promoting social cohesion and encounters.
DUO for a JOB is an association created in 2012 which started its activities in 2013 in Belgium in Brussels. 2 new legal structures were then created: DUO for a JOB France in 2019, an association under the 1901 law, and stiching DUO for a JOB in the Netherlands in 2021.
From a couple of days to a couple of weeks ! After participating in an information session, you will meet a coordinator of the association. Then, following this interview, you will be “matched” by the association with the mentor that best suits you ! Depending on your availability, you will meet for the first time and if you want to continue the adventure together, you officially start your duo for a maximum of 6 months. These steps generally take between 15 days and 1 month.
There are several ways to support DUO for a JOB as a company: through financial sponsorship, skill sponsorship, fundraising or by offering visibility to our target audiences mentors and mentees. Contact us to discuss future collaboration!
No, the program is completely free !
We don't aim for a specific level of study. 50% of our mentees have a bachelor, master or even PhD diploma, the other half general secondary, primary level or no diploma.
Since the DUO for a JOB mentoring program is completely free for our participants, the support of financial partners is a prerequisite for our existence, our development, as well as for the sustainability of our action. Making a donation to DUO for a JOB means supporting the socio-professional integration of young people with an immigration background while valuing our seniors, it means engaging with our teams and volunteers and allowing them to act on a daily basis and to support our duos towards their greatest successes. Find more information in our donation section or contact us !
An FAQ has been specially designed for DUO training. 🖥 Contact your coordinator for more info!
If you have any questions about your appointment, please contact the coordinators by phone.
Not true! A large part of our mentees have a higher education diploma. When looking for a job, a diploma is not everything, your mentor can help you better understand the codes of the sector, share his experience with you, help you build a network, etc.
DUO can boost your job search but unfortunately not for student jobs 😩
All open internship offers are listed on our site in the recruitment section, maybe there is an offer for you!

You don't have to! But you can 🙃 Once your 6 months as a duo have passed, we ask you to fill out an evaluation where you inform us of your next availability: tomorrow, after summer, next year, everything is ok for us! Moreover, 9 out of 10 mentors repeat the experience and start a duo again after their first support.
Our mentoring program is addressed to all young people of foreign origin, that is to say all young people who have a foreign nationality (outside the European Union), but also all young people who were born here but with a parent or grandparent born abroad (outside the EU). Why? Having a foreign origin is a brake on the job market, no matter the level of education, it is statistically proven. Our action is therefore aimed at restoring equal opportunities for all.
If a conflict arises during your mentoring period or if you feel uncomfortable in your duo, you can turn to your referring coordinator and share this difference with him. He/she will make every effort to find a solution so that everything goes as well as possible. However, if the situation does not improve, we will put an end to your duo and we will put you in contact with another young person based on the criteria you have given us: sector, availability, language spoken etc.
One of the requirements to become a mentor at DUO for a JOB is to be over 50 years old. Being retired is not a criterion as long as you have a few hours per week to devote to the support of your mentor.
The duos have at their disposal spacious premises equipped with computers connected to the Internet and printers.
These are already several ways to support us. Discover more by visiting our Support Us page.
As far as possible, the mentor worked in the same industry as the young person. However, the sector is not the only criterion taken into consideration. Indeed, we also take personality into account and interests are also taken into account when putting in contact.
